Raphael
Louis was born in Les Cayes, south shore of the island of Hispaniola,
Republic of Haiti, within the Caribbean; the son of Yva Ganois
(mother) and the late Idanor Louis (father). He grew up in
Port-au-Prince, the capital, where he attended elementary and
secondary schools. During his years of secondary education, Raphael
Louis's life was considerably and deeply impacted by various
socio-cultural, religious and political phenomena within Haitian
societies as he was inspired to write and co-produce The Mirror That
Kills while working at PVS Antenna 16, a local television station, a
one and a half hour documentary aiming to educate the Haitian
population on the adverse effects of voodoo practices on past, present
and future generations.
Raphael Louis arrived in the United States of America (U.S.A) in May of 1992, and immigrated onto Canada in September of 1993 as a socio-political refugee, recognized unanimously by the United Nations International Refugee Tribunal the following year, based on a series of life threatening incidents, which took place at the television station situated in Pationville, Haiti, a suburb located approximately fifteen to twenty kilometers southeast of Port-au-Prince, for having produced such documentary.
Raphael Louis's struggles for justice began in the late 1990's when he was arrested several times by police officers for just no cause and was informed mockingly at these times that he had consequently no rights whatsoever. Subsequently, Raphael Louis has also experienced educational inequities while attending federally funded programmers at a local college where the college decided to expulse Raphael Louis from the programmer based on just no cause.
Additionally, Raphael Louis has also experienced inequities within the labor environment at several private companies and corporations, for which cases, Raphael Louis had no recourse to adequate remedies since no specific institutions and/or organizations are specialized to intervene into such complex and crucial humanitarian issues.
The last events that inspired Raphael Louis to create and establish the FAAVM is the torturous assault, which occurred at a shopping centre where Raphael Louis had rented a post office box. As one night, Raphael Louis was en route home from work, he was confronted by a security officer who began interrogating Raphael Louis on his destination, as Raphael Louis respectfully informed the officer that he had had a long day at work and was on his way home. The security officer then ordered Raphael Louis to place his hands behind his back because he was under arrest. Unexpectedly, two additional security officers rushed onto the scene and began a series of physical brutality applying excessive and abusive force, and then handcuffed Raphael Louis so tightly that left him with considerable nerve damages. Thereafter, Raphael Louis went to the hospital emergency care unit where a complete damage assessment report of the torturous assault was recorded.
Raphael Louis is currently writing a book aiming to provide specific details of the periodical events, which includes more explanatory notes, precise dates and specific locations historically recorded; inclusively correspondences, police reports, hospital records, educational institution file, federal government documentation, private companies and corporation's files.
These sequential disturbing and horrible events, which occurred in real time have dominated the deepest thoughts and insightful reflections of Raphael Louis, and therefore influenced the course of his life in ways that he has passionately devoted his life to combat injustice, social inequities, civil rights violations and human rights interferences. Consequently, Raphael Louis has created the FAAVM Canada, which main aims are to address these vital issues, to secure and defend civil rights of underprivileged and disadvantaged people and communities, whereas vulnerable men, women and children being victimized by the existence of these social inequalities and inequities.
Presently, Raphael Louis resides in Ottawa and continues working tirelessly to establish the FAAVM Canada, which has become a dream and a vital instrument to vehicle social justice, fundamental freedoms, transnational solidarity and global peace amongst visible minorities and between peoples of the world, the national majorities and the international communities. The existence of the FAAVM represents a significant multilateral humanitarian system, which stands firmly as a human rights watchdog to protect human beings from crimes against humanity, hate crimes, racial hatred, racism, racial discrimination, human cruelty, inclusively violence against women and children.
Throughout the course of his existence, Raphael Louis continuously believes in peaceful, friendly and loving relationships towards his fellow human beings regardless of race, color, social status, national or ethnic origins, sex or gender, religious beliefs and political opinions, and today, Raphael Louis believes he has found his true and genuine purpose in life, and such purpose is the FAAVM Canada.
